His father, Isay, was Isidore Gucovsky's brother. His father was a pharmacist, a revolutionary from Chisināu, he led the revolutionary circle for a while. Emilian Gucovskii graduated from 7th grade in high school in 1917. He joined the Red Army in 1918. He participated in the civil war between 1919-1920. During the year he graduated from artillery, commanded a platoon, and later led a battery. In 1926 he graduated from an artillery school, and in 1931 - Mihail Frunze Military Academy. In 1928 he graduated from the Academy of General Staff. In 1940-1941 he was a pro- fessor at the Military Artillery Academy. During World War I he was the leader of the artillery army. On December 24, 1943, he was decorated with the title of Major General of Artillery. Since 1943 he has been head of the tactics department of the Military Artillery Academy. Since 1945 he has been head of the artillery department of the Military Academy of the General Staff. During the years 1946-1951, he was again appointed head of the department of the Military Artillery Academy. During the years 1951-1959 he was a senior lecturer at the Military Academy of the General Staff. He was fired on June 19, 1959. He was decorated with the Order of Lenin, the Red Star and other medals. Dis- missed on June 19, 1959.
