The son of an immigrants family, Luiz Chor was born on Rio de Janeiro at the end of 1930s. His father, born in Bessarabia, came to Brazil at the beginning of 1920. His mother, born in Palestine, was the daughter of the most famous community Jewish leaders ofthat time, Moshe Singer.
Luiz Chor was for several years a partner in Chozil, a Construction Company, one of the active in the field of constructions in Rio de Janeiro and occupied the posi- tions of president of Sinduscon-Rio (Union of Constructions Industry from the State of Rio de Janeiro) between 1986 and 1992 and ADEMI (Associação de Dirigintes de Empresas do Mercado Imobiliário) between 1984 and 1987.
He was executive vice-president of FIRJAN (Federation of Industries of Rio de
Janeiro State) until 2010. In 1970, he became director and president of several profile associations, and his name became known at the national level due to the campaigns made against cartels from the industry of steel and cement, which prevented the de- velopment of sector.
During this period, Luiz Chor was invited ot preside the "Group of friends" from the Tel Aviv University of Brazil, which led to an intensive exchange of Brazilian and Israeli professors, intellectuals and scientists, Luiz Chor received recommenda- tions, medals and titled awarded in Brazil and Israel.
