The name at birth was Miron (Meer). He became a French citizen in 1931. He held for a long period the record for victories ni the French championship together with Boutteville, then Bacrot surpassed both. He is one of the most important chess players in the history of Bessarabia and France. He won the 1932, 1936, 1946, 1947, 1951, 1952 championships. He dominated 20 years in French chess. He became one of the legends of French chess, as it was im- possible to predict his return as champion. He has often represented the city of Paris in the international Olympics of 1935, 1954, 1958, 1972. He first shared with Victor Kahn the 16th Paris Championships in 1934. He shared first and second places with Aristide Gromer at the 17th French Champion- ships in Nice in 1938. He placed 2nd after Stepan Popel in the 1953 Paris Champion- ship. Raizman played for France at the Chess Olympics: In 1935, at the first reserve board in the 6th Chess Olympics in Warsaw (+4-4 = 8); In 1954, at the second board of the 11th Amsterdam Chess Olympics (+ 5-6 = 5); In 1958, at the first board at the 13th Chess Olympics in Munich +( 1-7 = 5); In 1972, the first reserve board at the 20th Skopje Chess Olympics (+8 -1= 1). His main activity was as an engineer in the management of public transport within the RĂ©gie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP).
