The son of Jose Wassermann and Beila Wassermann. Born in Santos, São Paulo, the son of immigrants from Bessarabia, he created the publishing house in the 1970s, now mainly established in the areas of education, psychology and communica- tion. The group comprises seven labels -Summus Editorial, Editora Agora, Selo Negro Editions, Edições GLS, MG Editores, Mescla Editorial and Plexus Editora-. Having published authors such as Moacyr Scliar, Nei Lopes and Flávio Gikovate. Wassermann's role in the publishing market led him to preside over the Brazilian Book Chamber for two terms, from 1999 to 2003. In 1974, he founded Summus, which today is formed by the following labels and publishers: Agora, Edições GIS, Selo Negro Edições, MG Editores, Plexus Editora and Mescla Editorial. Summus publishes works in thefields of psychology, education, communication, LGBT and many others. Wasserman was the first president of the Brazilian Association of Reprographic Rights (ABDR), founded in 1992, and directed the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL) for two terms between the late 1990s and early 2000s. He was a book professional and a reader with a multidisciplinary view and ahead of his time. As president of the Brazilian Book Chamber for two terms, between 1999 and 2003, he led important projects such as the São Paulo Book Circuit, and brought new perspectives and proposals to the São Paulo International Book Biennial".
