The sister of Steven Pinker. Susan Pinker is a developmental psychologist who writes about social science. Her newspaper columns, Problem Solving and The Business Brain, appeared weekly in The Globe and Mail from 2002-2012. She currently writes a column on human behaviour, Mind and Matter, for The Wall Street Journal. Susan Pinker's first book, The Sexual Paradox: Men, Women and the Real Gender Gap, about the roots of sex differences in the classroom and the work- place, was a New York Times' Editors' Choice and was awarded The William James Book Award by the American Psychological Association. It has been published in 17 countries. Her writing has also been recognized in awards from the Canadian Medical Association (2000), the Professional Writers' Association of Canada (2002, 2010), The International Society for IntelligenceResearch (2014), and shehas been nominated for the John Alexander Media Award (2000), the Aventis Pasteur Medal for Excellence in Health Research Journalism (1999), the YWCA Woman of Distinction Award (2007), and the BC National Award for Canadian Non-Fiction (2009).
