He started toplay volleyball at the age of 1. At the age of 16, he becamemem- ber of the country's national youth team, and in 1969 - member of the national team
of USSR (permanent member since 1971). He is graduate of the Institute of Physical Culture ofMoscow (volleyball trainer, 1973).
He played for ЦСКА (Central Sport Club of Army) from Rostov-on-Don. Since 1971, he is attacker in the CSCA team. He is sextuple champion of USSR during 1972- 1977. Winner of the Spartakiadas of USSR People in 1971 and 1975. He is quadruple
winner of the Cup of European Champions during 1973-1975, and in 1977.
He was within the national team of USSR: European champion in 1971 and 1975, winner of Olympic silver medal (1976, Montreal) and winner of Olympic bronze medal (1972, Munchen), winner of silver medal at world championship of 1974. At the beginning of '70s, he was one of the best attackers of the world. He was recognized as the best attacker of the European Championships from 1971 and chosen as member of the European symbolic team of the same year. He left the team in 1976, he played for CSCA until 1977. In 1978-1981, he was the trainer of the national youth team of
Moscow, during 1977-1990 - trainer at CSCA. Since 1990, he had lived in Israel, assisting trainer of the country's national team. Since 1995, he settled to Montreal, where he is volleyball trainer and instructor in a summer cantonment near New York.
