He is the son of theartist Dina Vierny from Bessarabia. Born in Paris, Bertrand Lorquin studied philosophy and art history. He was curator of the Musée Maillol. He has collaborated in numerous Maillol exhibitions around the world, Tokyo, Taiwan, Sao Paulo, Baden Baden, Mexico, Valencia. Since the opening of the Maillol Museum, Bertrand Lorquin has worked as a co-curator of exhibitions such as Le Nu in the work of Félix Valloton, Diego Rivent and Frida Kahlo, the Maillol Painter, Pierre Bonnard,
Austrian Expressionism, Ecole de Londres. He participated in writing the catalog motivated for Maillol's work. Main publications: Marcel Duchamp and his brothers, Paris 1988, Maillol aux Tuileries, Paris 1991, Bauchant 1998 and Toulouse Lautrec and the poster, Paris 2001. With his brother Olivier Lorquin (born in 1949), he spent a long time discreetly busy as curator of the Maillol Foundation in Paris. A specialist in modern art, he wrote or participated in many works on Toulouse-Lautrec, Pascin, Seraphine of Senlis or Germany in the Dark Ages. His curiosity pushed him further into the century, approaching the American painter George Condo or the photogra- phers Weegee and Bert Stern, the most recent portraitist of Marylin Monroe. Bertrand
