The son of Maurice Herman Finkel. George Finkel was a 3time Emmy award winning TV Producer/Director. Hegraduated from the University of Michigan.
He began his sports production career at WPHL in Philadelphia in the late 1960s. He took a "part-time" position at NBC Sports in 1971 that lasted 19 years. He won Emmy awards for; Super Bowl XIII, the 1982 World Series and Gymnastics co-
verage at the 1988 Summer Olympicsin Seoul.
He also produced the 1979 "Bird vs Magic" NCAA Basketball championship
game. At that time, it was the most watched sporting event in History. His career includes; 6 Super Bowls, 6 World Series, 6 Orange Bowls, 2 Stanley Cup Finals along with several NCAA championships. After leaving NBC he formed Megasports pro- ductions and produced; Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns preseason games, Houston Rockets and NY Nets basketball games and several Mummers parades.
His expertise was also utilized to set up the camera locations at the Philadelphia Spectrum when it was built and to help Garrett Brown test the Sky Cam and then be the first television producer to use the Sky Cam in an NFL game.
