He is the brother of Gilles and Serge Haroche. He has Bessarabian roots on the maternal line. He si the father of rock singer Raphael Haroche.
After being a lawyer in Paris for fifteen years, Joël Haroche founded and co-founded with his brother Gilles the International Journal of Medicine, and then created the multimedia journal Médecine Interactive. During this time, he met, inter-
viewed and filmed the biggest names in world medicine.
Leaving the edition behind, he began writing in 2005 his first novel published
by Denoël, Le Petit Loukoum, which he signed under the pseudonym Josh Harel. He
takes his real name for his second book, L'Affaire Rosenblatt, commissioned by Grasset
and published in February 2017.
loël Haroche received the Gabrielle - d'Estrées Literary Prize for L'Affaire
Rosenblatt 2017. He was a finalist in the same year for the Prix Ouest-France Étonnants Voyageurs. The book was one of the last three novels to be screened at the Brive-la-Gaillarde Foire du live in November 2017. Ayear later, he also won the 2017 Iérome Cahen Prize for L'affaire Rosenblatt.
