The son of Mike Alexandroff. Norman was the founder and President of the Berwyn Public Art Initiative, which uses the arts to build a more healthy, inclusive, and culturally vibrant community. Norman helped manage and fundraise for the Wabash Arts Corridor, which installed 50 giant murals to transform Chicago's South Loop from an island of urban forlorn into a destination neighborhood. He started the Chicago Center for Arts Policy, the first research center in the nation exploring the role of the arts in building community, and in fostering civic engagement.
He helped create the ground-breaking research initiative on the "Informal Arts Sector", which documented how community arts and arts education programs support social cohesion, economic development, and help close the opportunity gap. He built the Offices of Student Communications, Media Relations, Publications, and Business and Community Partnerships at Columbia College Chicago. Norman has raised over $5 million in support of arts and education programs. Norman has also developed a variety of educational initiatives in Chicago and suburban public schools.
Norman created "Gravity", named "College Magazine of the Year" by "News- week", as wel as "Reservoir" (online magazine of the year), "Why We Succeed" (annu- al report of the year), and"Tally Ho" (internal communications ofthe year) conferred by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.
