Brother of Alicia Steimberg. The University of Buenos Aires (UBA) appoin- ted him emeritus professor and he is director of the postgraduate degree in Arts
Criticism at the National University of theArts (UNA). He was president of the Argentine Association of Semiotics and vice president of the International Association of Visual Semiotics. He is a member of the Postdoctoral Commission of the Faculty of Social
Sciences of the UBA. He wrote for the magazine El Porteño.
From his literary work, Body without frame, Majesty, etc. was published,
Gardel yla Zarina, Figuration by Gabino Betinotti, The pretext of the dream and Possible Patria and other verses. In a version set to music by Pablo di Liscia Figuration by
Gabino Betinotti received the award from the National Endowment for the Arts 2010. In the same year "Figuraciónde Gabino Betinotti" was included ni the anthology 200 years of Argentine poetry, published for the Bicentennial celebrations. And with the musician Francisco Kröpfl he wrote 'The third is the charm, staging of an Italian folk tale chosen for the National Cycle ofContemporaryOpera, Buenos Aires 2011.
Among his books of essays are 'The Reception of Gender, The Pretext of Sleep, The Return of Images (with Oscar Traversa and Marita Soto), Period Style and Media Communication (with Oscar Traversa), Semiotics: the Semiotics of Genres, of styles, of transposition, and Readingcomic strips: texts on visual stories and graphic humor.
