He graduated from the irrigation and drainage faculty of the Chisinäu Agricultural Institute, then the Faculty of Economics of VGI. Since 1987 - head of the planning and financial department of the State Committee for Cinematography of the Moldovan SSR. He began his film career in 1983 as director offeature films at the Moldova-film studio (I am ready to accept the challenge, Anxious Dawn and The Mysterious Prisoner, directed by Valeriu Gagiu, 1983-1985; Forget About the Return, directed by Vasily Brescanu, 1985), in 1989 he created his own studio "ECOU Films", where he shot the films "The Year of the Good Child" directed by Boris Conunov (1991) and "Death Behind the Scenes" directed by Boris Durov (1991). Since 1992 he lived in the USA, where he transferred the production company ECOU Films. He headed the Russian-British production company "East-West", which was engaged in the filming. Within the framework ofthis project, the TV Series "Sharpe" (1993-1997) and Tv Series "Hornblower" (1998-2003; Emmy Award, 1999), the full- length film "First strike" with Jackie Chan (1996), a number of joint television works with the British television channelsBBC, Channel 4and ITV. He was aline producer for six episodes of the "Red Shoe Diaries" (1992-1999); action films "First Strike" (with Jackie Chan's, 1996) and "Black Sea 213" (1998), the comedy film "Jewish Vendetta" (1999); Production manager of the "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" (2011).
