Daughter of Pinky Wainer. Rita Wainer was born in São Paulo in 1977. Illustra- tor, plastic artist, street artist and fashion designer; Rita is all of that and more. After years of working in fashion and parading her collections at SPFW and Fashion Rio, she decided to dedicate her life to painting.
In her art she plays with expressive features in a playful universe composed of bloody hearts, stars, flowers and sharks filled with emotive, loving girls and text com- binations. She uses a female alter ego to claim current feminine roles. Her art touches
on deep feelings and is straight forward about universal feminine questions.
Rita likes to create using mixed media; she puts her ideas on paper, plates, walls or any other platform that suits her creations. She uses the Internet intensely as a communication tool for the dissemination of her images and poetry through social
networks. She lives and works in Rio de Janeiro since 2013.
Rita Wainer was taken by surprise in the middle of 2021 year, when filmmaker
Las Bodansky, who until then only knew her by sight, invited her to act in her new film. The project in question was "Pedro, a feature film starring - and produced - by Cauâ Reymond, who exposes Dom Pedro I in a different way from what we are used to seeing. The role offered to the plastic artist, who had never acted in her life, was that of Domitila, the irreverent lover and great passion of the first emperor of Brazil.
