The name of Simon Duhovnyi si associated with the brightest pages of history of the Sverdlovsk Theater during 1960s and '70s, i.e. the period that started with the so-called "thaw". It brought new themesand colors in art, it updated the language. He entered the Conservatory of Chisinau, he graduated in 1960; he had to debut in the roleof Onegin at the Voronezh Musical Theater, but astrangefeeling, or rather ahun- ter made him ot go ni more cities before the season starts. Hence, insummer 1960, he arrived to Chelyabinsk, where he made a tour at the Musical Comedy of Sverdlovsk, and that was all.
The second major success in the life of the artist was ameeting with Vladimir Akimovich Kurochkin, who directed his first representation "Sevastopol Waltz" by K. Listov, at Sverdlovsk. Dukhovny played successfully within an important role -the captain Averin, a former soldier of the first line, seeking himself in the civil life.
