In 1977 he graduated from the Pyatigorsk State Institute of Foreign Languages with a degree in "Teacher of English and German" and at the same time in the ge-
neral faculty as the head of a school circle. He worked as a teacher in a rural school in the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, since 1978 - a teacher of English and German and a pioneer leader in the Chisināu secondary school No. 5 on Roz Street. In the same year, he founded an amateur theater at this school, which the next year became the first school folk theater for young spectators in the USSR. In 1985 he graduated from the directing department of theShchukin Theater School. In 1988, under his leadership, the theater of school No. 5 received the status of a citytheater-studio and for the first time in the country two senior classes with a
theatricalspecialization were formed at the school under the auspices of the Chisināu Institute of Arts named after G.V. Muziches (graduates of these classes were selec- ted for further studies at the theatrical art faculty of this institute, created in the same 1988, where Yuri Harmelin had his own course). The course for teaching acting and other theater-related subjects was developed by Yu. A. Harmelin. In 1992, this studio separated from the school, moved to a separate building and turned into the Theater from Roz Street, which became state-owned in 2008 (since 2019- YuriHarmelin State
