Her birth name was Shaya Shayder. In 1914, his family crossed the Atlantic Ocean to reach the United States. They settled in eastern Manhattan. After graduating from high school, Sacha Moldovan entered the Cooperative School of Arts Evening School, in 1921 she enrolled at the National Academy of Arts and Design.
In the early 1920s, he received American citizenship and officially changed his name to Sacha Moldovan. In 1921, Moldovan entered the National Academy of Arts and Design in New York. In 1924 her first work appeared, called Femme Au Verre de Vin. In 1925, he studied at the private art school in France - the Julian Academy and the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, opened a studio on Avenue Chatillon. Since 1927, Sacha Moldovan has participated in group exhibitions - at the Salon des Tuileries VIII, Société des Artists Indépendants, Galerie de la Renaissance, Salon d'au- tomne 1927. The first solo exhibition was organized by the famous art critic, André Salmon, in 1929, at the Carmine Gallery.
In 1933, Sacha Moldovan returned to New York, where he worked in pain- ting and mosaics at various public institutions, continued to take part in exhibitions, opened a studio in Manhattan, near Yorkville. His most expensive painting was sold for $ 50,000 and was purchased by the Hammer Gallery in 1991. His daughter, Wendy Moldovan, runs his own collection.
