Through his researches and experiments established scientific fundamentals of improvement and production of hybrid corn seeds. From local variaties of corn (Moldovan orange) found a new source of male cytoplasmic sterility, which later be- came known as Moldovan type of sterility (M). With the staff led by him, created a rich genetic collection of traditional species for Moldova (wheat, corn, beans, peas, millet, sorghum) and of new species (peanuts, mas, vigna etc.); established ways of improve- ment and production of wheat seeds depending on climate conditions of Moldova, initiated investigations in thedomain of cytoembriology and induced mutagenesis. He is author and co-author of several varieties and hybrids of corn, winter wheat, soya, beans, etc. results of researches are included in the about 200 scientific works. He was chairman of the Society of Geneticists and Breeders of Moldova, chair- man of the Specialized Scientific Council for conferring of scientific degrees of doc- tor and doctor habilitat at the specialty "Breeding of plants". Trained 50 doctors and 4 doctors habilitat in sciences. Holder of the title "Emeritus", decorated with orders "Lenin", "Badge of Honour" and "Red Labour Flag". Agronomist, scientific domain: selection and genetics ofplants. Doctor habilitat of agricultural sciences (1940), university professor (1954). Corresponding member (1961) and titular member (1965) of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
