He studied at the Romanian high school of Chisinau "Alexandru Donici" and continued his studies atBucuresti.
Once the World War I began, he was evacuated together with his brother Sabsa in Buguruslan city. He worked in a factory of Gorky (Nijni Novgorod) and suffered of tuberculosis. After the war, E. Finn returned to Chisinäu and entered the Medical Institute of Chisināu. Since 1950, he worked for two years in Straseni and then he was appointed chief of the National Tuberculosis Sanatorium "Vorniceni" in the region of Codrii, Straseni, Moldova. He had worked for 27 years in this sanatorium.
His works in developing the dry environments of isolating the tuberculosis m-i cro-bacteria "Finn-1" and 'Finn-2" (F-1 and F-2) were the fundamentals for his thesis
as candidate in medical sciences. "Finn-2" environment was breveted in 1973, and the
sanatorium "Vorniceni" was reorganized in the laboratory of microbiology for mass
production, under the guidance of E. Finn.
This environment was adopted as standard environment in anti-tuberculosis
institutions of USSR. Other works were dedicated to the disinfectants for treating
the excretions of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis, methods of isolating the mi- cro-bacteria tuberculosis from the sputum ofpatients and the practical aspect of an-
ti-tuberculosis chemotherapy.
