In 1964 founded Laboratory of Quantum Chemistry that will conduct until 1993. Since 1993 is professor at the University of Texas in Austin (USA). He is the founder of scientific school of theoretical (quantum) chemistry in the Republic of
Moldova. Among the main elaborations can be named: development of general theo- ry of Jahn-Teller effect, release of vibrionic theory of ferroelectrics, of quasi-relativistic semi-empiric calculation method of molecular systems and electron-conformational method of the forecasting of"structures-activity" relations, as well as researches ofvib-
rionic effects in chemical reactivity and in spectroscopy. He contributed to promotion of the researches in coordinative chemistry with application of fundamental princi- ples of quantum mechanics for elucidation of the issues of chemical reactivity, elec- tronic structure of reactant molecules, of the activated complex and transition states
in catalysis, modelling of molecular systems containing transition metals. Proposed the use of the so-called electron-conformational computational method at identifi-
g cation of pharmacophores and forecasting of the bioactivity in pharmaceutics. Mentioned researches ended with scientific discovery, recorded in 1978 in the USSR State
Register titled "The phenomenon of split-tunnelling of the energetic levels ofpoly- atomic systems in state of electronic degeneration". The method is rapid, inexpensive
and efficient, ensuring a high degree of forecasting with probability of 90%.
