He graduated the Department of Natural Sciences of the Red Professorship Institute in 1932, later he run the Department of Pathologic Physiology of the Biomedical Institute of Moscow. During his studies period, he made a series of expe- rimental studies on the hormonal functions of the pituitary gland, resulted in several publications in international journals.
This paper became the main direction of the scientific activity of scien- tists in '30s and culminated with the publication of his monograph "The role of pituitary gland in physiology and pathology in the light of experiment" (1939). In
1934, he was appointed chief of pathophysiology at the State Institute of Experimental Endocrinology; since 1938 - professor and chief of pathologic physiology of the Medical Institute of Moscow and the Dentistry Institute of Moscow. He had works in the field of endocrine functions of hypophysis, different aspects of endocrinology, history of medicine; he developed a model of renal hypertension and research ex- perimental methods (1945). During the company against the cosmopolitism, he was dismissed of position and was transferred to Reazani, where, during 1950-1968, he run the Department of Pathologic Physiology ofthe "Academician Pavlov" Medical Institute of Reazani. His wife was economist, Rebeca Levin, was member of the Academy of Sciences of USSR; his son is the scientist Mihail Levin.
