In 1955-2007, he was the main geologist of the State Geological Enterprise Irkutskgeofizica. He became a doctor in geological and mineralogical sciences defen- ding the thesis on "Methodological bases of oil and gas prospecting in the southern part of the Sibiu Platform". Since 1970, he had been the head of the department of re- gional geology and geophysics at Irkutsk State University. Winner of the USR Council of Ministers Award for the monograph "Geology and seismicity ofthe BAM area" (1988) and the State Prize of the Russian Federation in science and technology for scientific justification and discovery ofoil and gas de- posits in the Precambrian sediments of the Siberian Platform (1994). He was awarded the Order of People's Friendship (1986), the medal "For Performance at Work" (1976); three badges "Ore Discoverer" (1989), "Honorary Subsoil Prospector" badge (1989), "Excellence in Subsoil Exploration" (1979), "Honorary Veteran of the Sibiu Branch of the USR Academy of Sciences" (1983), Honorary geologist of the Russian Federation (1983), Honorary citizen of the Irkutsk region.
