He studied at the Faculty of Electrical Machines at the Sergei Lazo Polytechnic Institute in Chisināu, became a master of science in 1971. His doctoral studies were conducted at the Institute of Applied Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Moldavian SSR, Chisināu and at the Institute of Materials Research of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, Kiev, in technology and equipment for electrophysical processing. He defended his doctorate in 1978 by the thesis "Study of Electric Spark Coating with Powder Materials in an Electric Field". From 1981 to 1989, he worked at the Institute of Applied Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the MSSR, where he led research and development of new methods of coating with electric sparks for metal surfaces and characterizing the composition, structure and properties of the obtained phases.
Since 1990, he has been a principal investigator in the Laboratory for Electric Discharge and Plasma at Tel Aviv University, where he researches the influence of transverse current during thin film deposition and arc electrode erosion and investi-
gates the development and application of pulsed air arc deposition (PAAD). He also holds a graduation course on "Processing of Electrophysical and Electrochemical Materials" at the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, Faculty of Engineering.
Dr. Nahum Parkansky has published 77 printed works, including 27 inventor's patents and a book.
