He was born in the family of Isaac Ephrussi, native of Chisinäu. In 1917, he graduated the College of Commerce and Music of Odessa, later the State University of Samara. In the same time, he worked as violinist in the orchestras of Samara (1917-
1922), later as laboratory assistant in the laboratory of physical research methods at the Institute of Physics and Mechanics of Leningrad. In 1927, he graduated the Faculty of Physics and Mechanics at thePolytechnic Institute of Leningrad (where he was mi - mediately accepted in the second year). Since 1925, he was employed with the Special Technical Bureau for Military Inventions for special purpose (Ostekhbyuro), first as senior laboratory assistant and since 1935, as chiefo flaboratorv.
SinceMarch 1941 until September 1945, heworked at the installation of the 4th special department of NKVD of Sverdlovsk. He developed radio structures, including a receptor for partisans with the code Belka (Squirrel).
During 1953-1987, he was scientist at the Laboratory of Television Subsid- iaries of Moscow (MTFL), later renamed in the Institute of Television Researches of
Moscow. Candidate in technical sciences ("Fundamentals of features analysis and syn- thesis of intermediary frequency television amplifier, 1964). He was engaged in inven- tion activities in the field of radiophonic engineering and televised radiobroadcast. Author of scientific publications about the television technology.
