He studied at the gymnasium in Kharkov, then at Sank Petersburg Universi- ty. Since 1910, a follower of the anthroposophical teachings of Rudolf Steiner, since 1913 - a member of the Russian Anthroposophical Society. Since 1914 he lived in
London. In May 1914, he participated in the construction of the anthroposophical temple" Goetheanum" in Dornach (which Andrei Bely remembered).
Since 1917 he lived in Paris, where he participated in the work of the Russian Anthroposophical Circle, the Russian People's University and the Rudolf Steiner School (1928-1934), was the secretary of the Hermes Paris Masonic Lodge (1934). He
was published in the philosophical and critical journal The Way, from 1928-1935 he was the editor of the journal Anthroposophy: Questions of Soul and Spiritual Culture.
The author of works on the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner and anthroposophy.
He was fluent in many ancient and modern languages (fluent in Russian, French,
Spanish, Portuguese, Norwegian, Turkish, Serbian, modern Greek, Berberian and Bantu; without a dictionary, he read in various European languages, as well as in Latin, Ancient Greek, Chinese, Finnish, Japanese, Persian, Arabic, Ancient Assyrian and
Ancient Egyptian languages), studied at least one language per year.
He taught at the Department of Egyptology at the Sorbonne and the State School
of Oriental Languages (Ecole nationale des langues orientales).
