Denis grew in a creative family, and his introduction in the world of art at an early age was understood. He attended the music school, where he learnt to play the piano. At the age of twelve, he started to write his own music operas, whichhelped him in his creating life. Almost all songs interpreted by Чай вдвоем group were written by Kleaver. After school, he continued his music education at the College of Music from Leningrad, where he studied the class of trumpet. After he graduated the school, Denis went to serve the army forces, where he was a musician in a military band. When the service was accomplished, he studied several years at the conservatory. Чай в двоем group was founded in 1994, when he was 19. The boys decided to start the career with the participation in different competitions, such that they be observed by the musical community. It was significant for them the participation in the competition Yalta-Moscow-Transit of 1995, where they took the first place. They were observed at that competition by M. Shufutinsky and Laima Vaikule. After that, they made a tour- nament with Shufutinsky for one year, thanks to whom they gained money to shoot their first video. Later they started the collaboration with Lama Vaikule, who was a real discover for boys. They have learnt a lot from a talented singer, for example, to create spectacles with small means, to appear correctly on the scene, to interact with the public and to make a small performance during each number.
