His father, Jean Sirkis was born in Chisināu. During the beginnings of what would become the Indochine group, Stéphane was regularly absent to work as an operator of ski lifts in La Plane. He is sometimes a monitor but must give up, due to lack of time tovalidate an official diploma. His older brother will specify that Stéphane felt the obligation to work in order to bring money home. Christophe accepted their father's proposal to come and continue his studies in Brussels. His younger brothers declined the same proposal. Christophe will in- dicate about this period that Nicolas devoted all of his time to polish his look, his attitudes and to rehearse rather than going to expensive private schools.to which he was registered. In May 1981, Nicola Sirkis and Dominique Nicolas founded the group Indochine with the help of their friend Dimitri Bodianski and recorded a first disc in November 1981. Stéphane Sirkis observes the beginnings of his brother's group, while enro lling at the faculty of Malakoff to follow 12 psychology courses. He participated in the programming of Indochine then officially joined the trio in April 1982. He became the guitarist of Indochine and participated in the composition of several songs in the 1980s. His role in composition increased after the departure of the main composer and founding member of the group Dominique Nicolas in 1995.
