His parents, Leon Krivoy and Clara Onikman, emigrated from Bessarabia to
Venezuela. He entered medical school at the Central University of Venezuela (UCV),
graduated the first year, but the university was closed due to political circumstances, so he emigrated to Ecuador and was accepted to the University of Quito, where he
followed the second year. The University of Los Andes, in the state of Merida, in his home country, opened new degrees in Medicine and began and ended there the third
year. He began teaching at the Central University of Venezuela in 1959, as an assis- tant professor, until he became a professor of neurology at the Luis Razetti School of Medicine in 1975. He also obtained the title of psychiatrist, a specialty he held in parallel with neurosurgery and integrated it into the approach of his patients. Since then, he has devoted himself intensely to work, being one of the most recognized neu- rosurgeons in the country. He created postgraduate programs in neurosurgery for
adults and pediatricians. He is the founder of the Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery. He had several titles: head of the department and of the Neurosurgery Service of the University Hospital of Caracas (1979-2001); President of the Venezuelan Society of
Neurosurgery; President of the Society for the History of Medicine in Venezuela (2003- 2005); Member of the National Academy ofSciences of Venezuela; He was decorated with: the gold medal of the Latin American Federation of Neurosurgery (1996); etc.
