He was participant in the Civil War; he joined the brigade of Grigore Kotovsky (1917-1920), later commissar of the Artillery School of Odessa (1920-1921). During
1941-1945 - chief of evacuation hospital on the Front of Leningrad (1941-1945). During 1945-1946 - chief of laboratory within the Experimental Medicine Institute of the Academy of Medical Sciences of USSR; 1951-1953 - chief of the Department of Nervous Diseases at the State Central Institute for the training of medical staff of the Ministry of Health of USSR. During 1954-1969 - professor at the State University of Moscow"M. Lomonosov", superior scientific collaborator at the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology Research, Academy of Medical Sciences of USSR. Decorated with the order "Honor Badge" (1942), "Red Cross" (1945), "Revolution ofOctober" (1968).
His major works were in the field of physiology of superior nervous activity in humans and animals, activity of reflexes and internal inhibition functions, repro-
duction of reflexes conditioned by the pathologic conditions ofbody (including the reflex conditioned by the immune reactions), physiology of sleeping and hypnosis, psycho-prophylactic preparation of pregnant women for birth.
During 1930, he organized studies ofreflex activity and functions of internal inhibition in hamadril, in the breeding nursery ofSukhumi monkey and was one of founders of this breeding nursery. Doctor in medical sciences (1952), professor (1954).
