Health Sciences of Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Beer Sheva. He was elected
president of the Israel Society of Anesthesiologists (ISA-1981-1983) and acts as an elected member of the National Council of ISA since 1974. He was a member of the
WFSA Committee for Education between the years 1996-2004 and initiated the Beer Sheva educational project for Eastern Europe young anesthesiologists (1992-2005) and the International School for Instructors in Anesthesiology (ISIA-2006-2012).
Dr Gurman's main scientific topics of interest include: depth of anesthesia, pro-
fessional stress of the anesthesiologist, prevention of VAP, prevention of one lung ni- tubation, history of anesthesia. He is author and coauthor of more than 100 scientific
papers published in peer review journals. He is also a writer and publishes in three
languages: English, Hebrew and Romanian. Dr Gurman was accorded the title of doc- tor honoris causa of five medical universities in Europe.
