Dr. Galdston was born in Chisinäu, and Fordham University and hispsychiatric training at the Wagner Jauregg Institute in Vienna in the early 1920's. Dr. Galdston joined the Professional staff of the New York Academy of Medicine in 1928, creating what would become the Academy's Medical Information Bureau, which disseminated
important information to the public and the press concerning.
His column, "Iago Galdston for the New York Academy of Medicine", published in 200 newspapers, was the authoritative source for medical information to the public. Dr. Galdston lived to be 94, and upon his death in 1989, his family created the lago Galdston Lectureship at The New York Academy of Medicine. After working at the Union Health Center and the New York Tuberculosis Association he joined the New
York Academy of Medicine in 1928. For 34 years, Dr. Galston's was its spokesman and promoter of public activities; after his retirement in 1962 he became director ofresi-
dent training for Connecticut's Department of Mental Health.
Born in 1970, the American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training (AADPRT) works to further the education and professional development of psychiatry educators and program coordinators.
In 1973, at the age of 78, he began practicing psychiatry full time and had off- ces in Brooklyn Heights and Newtown.
