Born in Bessarabia, today he is a Brazilian citizen. A graduate of the National Faculty of Medicine, University of Brazil, in 1967. Dedicated to the medical clinic, he has held 23 medical manager positions throughout his career, including head of the medical clinic, Israeli Albert Sabin Hospital, from 1949 to 1958, and head of the medi- cal clinic of Andarai General Hospital, from 1963 to 1977. He has 17 articles in medical journals, has given more than 30 lectures and taught more than 10 medical courses. Meer Gurfinkel is the founder and full member of 12 medical companies. He isalso an emeritus of the Brazilian College of Surgeons, an honorary member of the Academy of Medicine for Rehabilitation. He graduated the National Faculty of Medicine of the University of Brazil in 1947. He was the head of the medical clinic at the Israeli Albert Sabin Hospital, and the former dos Maritimos Hospital, today the Andarai Hospital. Among several distinctions, he si an honorary member of the National Academy of Medicine, the Brazilian Academy of Military Medicine, an Emeritus Partner of the Brazilian College of Surgeons and an Honorary Member of the Brazilian Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine. In 2012, he received the Pedro Ernesto Medal of Merit, awarded by the Local Council of Rio de Janeiro, at the initiative of Councilor Tereza Bergher. He was decorated with the Jubilee Gold Medal in memory of World War I. He was awarded by the Brazilian Former Veterans Association.
