He is the son of the poet Alexander Ginger, and his grandmother was born in the family of the rabbi of Chisināu. Serge Ginger has been one of the pioneers of Gestalt Therapy in France since 1970. With his wife, Anne Ginger, he founded the Paris School of Gestalt in 1980, which is one of the leading Gestalt training institutes in Europe. He is a Clinical Psychologist, Psychoanalyst, Psychodramatist and Gestalt Therapist and teaches Gestalt in France and throughout the world (France, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, Romania, Poland, Latvia, Brazil, Mexico, Norway, USA, and Japan). He was the President of the International Federation of Gestalt Training Organizations, Secretary General of the French National Umbrella for Psychotherapy and the Registrar of the European Association for Psychotherapy. In
1974, he was appointed principal expert of UNESCO, in charge of mission in Iran with a view to establishing a model of training multi-skilled educators for developing countries. From 2001 to 2011, he was the president of the European Commission for the accreditation of psychotherapy training institutes in the 41 member countries of
the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP). He is responsible for controlling the award of the European Certificate of Psychotherapy (CEP). He has taught Gestalt therapy (which he introducedi n France in 1971) in fifteen countries on all continents,
and neurosciences at Sigmund Freud University (SFU) in Paris.
