As chief operating officer for family business Al Jaber Group, HE Fatima Al Jaber plays a key role at the conglomerate founded by her father. But it’s been a difficult few years for the company, which has struggled since the the global financial crisis, and began talking with creditors in 2011 after accruing debt. In December the group reportedly agreed restructuring terms for $1.6bn of debt, with implementation likely to take place in March. Al Jaber’s shrewd business skills will no doubt continue to be put to the test in the months and years ahead as she seeks to revive the company’s fortunes.
