Dumitru Ciolac is a researcher and doctor of medicine at the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemițanu" in Chisinau, Moldova. He is a member of the Laboratory of Neurobiology and Medical Genetics and has published research on topics such as the effects of SARS-CoV-2 on the central nervous system and the acceleration of neurodegeneration in patients with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease following viral infections. He has also studied the controllability of network communities in juvenile myoclonic epilepsy and brain structural integrity and connectivity in multiple sclerosis patients with epilepsy.
