Culiuc Leonid, a prominent physicist from Moldova, embarked on his academic journey after graduating from School No. 1 in Chisinau in 1967. He pursued higher education at the Polytechnic Institute in Chisinau and later studied abroad at the University of Moscow, focusing on wave processes. Throughout his career, Culiuc conducted groundbreaking research at the Institute of Applied Physics in Chisinau, earning his candidate's thesis in 1977 and a doctorate in 1989. He assumed leadership roles, including heading the physics laboratory of ternary and multinary compounds. Alongside his scientific pursuits, Culiuc engaged in political activities, serving as a deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova from 1996 to 2000. Notably, he directed the Institute of Applied Physics for 15 years and spearheaded annual international conferences on materials physics in Chisinau since 1986. Outside of his professional endeavors, Culiuc is a family man, married to Liudmila, and a proud father of two accomplished children.
