Victor Lacusta has dedicated his professional life to the advancement of alternative and complementary medicine, particularly in the field of acupuncture and homeopathy. His extensive experience spans both academic and clinical settings, demonstrating his commitment to education, research, and clinical practice.Since 1991, Lacusta has held the positions of Department Chair and Professor at the Department of Alternative and Complementary Medicine at the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy in the Republic of Moldova. In addition to his academic roles, he served as the Head of the Acupuncture and Sanocreatology Scientific Group at the Institute of Physiology and Sanocreatology of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova from 1995 to 2008.Lacusta's educational background includes a degree in pediatrics from the State Medical Institute in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova, which he obtained in 1974. He furthered his academic achievements by earning a Doctorate in Medical Sciences in 1982 and a Doctor Habilitat in Medical Sciences in 1991. His scientific interests revolve around human and animal physiology, particularly normal physiology.Over the years, Lacusta has continuously updated his skills and knowledge through various specialization and training programs. These include courses in acupuncture with neurological bases, psychiatry, reflexotherapy, manual therapy for vertebral pathology, therapeutic gymnastics, traditional Chinese acupuncture, and neurology, among others. His pursuit of continuous learning reflects his dedication to staying abreast of advancements in his field and delivering high-quality care to his patients.In recognition of his contributions to medicine and academia, Lacusta has received several prestigious titles and honors, including the title of Emeritus Man of the Republic of Moldova in 2000 and membership in the Academy of Sciences of Moldova as a Corresponding Member in 2000 and as a Full Member (Academician) in 2007.Through his leadership, scholarship, and clinical practice, Victor Lacusta has significantly contributed to the promotion and development of alternative and complementary medicine in the Republic of Moldova and beyond.
