Tudor Lupașcu, born in the village of Flamînzeni, Singerei district, Republic of Moldova, is a citizen of Moldova whose scientific interests revolve around chemical, physico-chemical processes, and mechanisms of sorption of toxic substances on solid supports. He is particularly focused on environmental protection and the rational use of natural resources. His expertise extends to ecological chemistry of natural and waste waters, as well as waste chemistry. Lupașcu is also involved in the development of technologies for obtaining carbon adsorbents from plant raw materials and for water purification processes, including surface and groundwater treatment, and wastewater treatment. His academic journey began at the State University of Moldova, where he pursued studies in Chemistry from 1967 to 1972. After completing his military service from 1972 to 1974, he continued his academic pursuits as a doctoral student at the Institute of Water Chemistry and Colloidal Chemistry in Kiev, Ukraine, affiliated with the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In 1981, he obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences, followed by a Doctor Habilitat degree in Chemistry in 2000. In 2006, he was recognized with the title of Professor-Researcher, and in 2009, he was honored with the title of Honorary Professor of the International University of Vienna. His academic achievements culminated in his appointment as a corresponding member (2012) and later as a full member (2017) of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.Throughout his career, Lupașcu has held various positions at the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, starting as a laboratory assistant in 1971 and progressing to the role of a senior scientific researcher by 1979. He has contributed significantly to research in his field and has also demonstrated leadership abilities through his managerial roles. His dedication to advancing knowledge in environmental chemistry and his contributions to academia have earned him recognition both nationally and internationally.
