Gheorghe Mustea is a highly accomplished musician and educator with a distinguished career spanning several decades. He began his musical journey at the Stefan Neaga School of Music in Chișinău, specializing in flute under the guidance of Professor A. Bivol from 1966 to 1970. Following this, he pursued further studies at the State Institute of Arts Gavriil Musicescu in Chișinău, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in instrumental performance (flute) in 1975 under the tutelage of Professor V. Rotaru. He also earned Bachelor's degrees in composition and orchestration, as well as symphonic and opera conducting, from the same institution between 1975 and 1980, studying with Professor V. Zagorschi and Associate Professor I. Alterman, respectively. Mustea's professional journey began in 1980 when he became a participant in international creative meetings, tours, and delegations across Europe and Asia as a conductor, instrumentalist, and member of the Union of Composers of the USSR. He held various positions during his career, including musical director and conductor of the Folk Dance Ensemble Orchestra Joc from 1975 to 1978, and artistic director and principal conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the State Philharmonic of Moldova from 1983 to 1984. Since 1989, Mustea has been serving as the Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of the Public Institution Teleradio Moldova in Chișinău. Additionally, he has been a Professor at the Academy of Music, Theater, and Fine Arts in Chișinău since 2005, where he teaches composition, orchestration, score reading, symphonic and opera conducting, and specializes in flute instruction. Mustea's contributions to the field of music extend beyond performance and teaching, as he has also been involved in organizing international masterclasses for symphonic conducting in Italy, France, and South Korea from 1990 to 2009. His dedication to music education and his outstanding leadership in orchestral performance have made him a respected figure in the Moldovan music community.
