Popovici's professional career spans over several decades, starting as an aspirant and assistant at the Biochemistry Department of the State Medical Institute. He later assumed roles as the Head of the Clinical-Experimental Cardiology Sector and went on to become the Director of several prominent medical research institutes in Moldova, including the Institute of Cardiology and the Institute of Preventive and Clinical Medicine.Popovici's research interests have primarily focused on cardiovascular diseases, particularly dilated cardiomyopathies, heart failure, and rhythm disorders. He has been instrumental in defining the factors contributing to these conditions and developing pathogenetic treatments. Additionally, he has played a significant role in formulating national strategies for combating cardiovascular diseases and other non-communicable chronic illnesses in Moldova. Popovici has also been deeply involved in advancing endovascular diagnostics and treatments for ischemic heart disease, studying dyslipidemia, atherosclerotic plaques, and coronary restenosis.Aside from his academic pursuits, Popovici has been actively engaged in public service and professional organizations. He has served as a Member of Parliament, participating in committees focused on healthcare and social welfare. He has also held positions in various scientific and medical councils, contributing to the advancement of medical science and education in Moldova. Popovici's dedication to his field is further demonstrated through his extensive involvement in scientific editorial boards and organizations both nationally and internationally.Throughout his career, Popovici has received numerous honors and awards for his outstanding contributions to medicine and science, including the State Prize of the Republic of Moldova for Science, Technology, and Production, as well as various honorary titles and medals from prestigious organizations. As a member of editorial boards for several scientific journals and as the President of editorial boards for medical compilations, Popovici continues to shape and advance the field of cardiology and medical research in Moldova and beyond.
