Dragnev Demir was born in Cureșnița village, Soroca county, on July 27, 1936, of Bulgarian descent and a former member of the CPSU and an author of the History of the RSSM manual, which saw six editions.Renowned historian Demir Dragnev is credited with approximately 270 scholarly works, published both independently and in collaboration with other authors. Among these are 50 volumes encompassing monographs, treatise chapters, document collections, textbooks, didactic materials, and brochures. Dragnev's expertise lies in medieval and modern Romanian history, Slavic-Romanian paleography, and he holds the position of university professor and editor of specialized publications.He completed his undergraduate studies at the Faculty of History at the State University of Moldova in 1957, pursued his doctorate at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova from 1962 to 1965, and successfully defended his doctoral thesis in history in 1975.
