Galina Lupascu has dedicated 48 years to research activities in the field of genetics, plant physiology, and plant protection. Her professional journey began with her graduation from the Faculty of Biology and Soil Science at the State University of Moldova in 1974, where she earned a diploma with honors. Since then, she has been involved in various roles within the Institute of Genetics, Physiology, and Plant Protection.Throughout her career, Lupascu has held positions such as senior laboratory assistant, scientific researcher, senior scientific researcher, and laboratory head. Her expertise encompasses genetics, plant protection, plant breeding, mycology, phytopathology, and scientific management.She earned her doctoral degree in biological sciences from the Institute of Scientific Research in the field of potato, fruit, and vegetable cultivation in Minsk, specializing in plant protection. Later, she obtained her doctoral degree in biological sciences from the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy in Moscow, specializing in plant protection and plant genetics.In addition to her research endeavors, Lupascu has undertaken teaching responsibilities, serving as a lecturer and professor in various fields related to plant genetics and applied genetics management.She has also directed several research projects aimed at developing genetic technologies for creating valuable crop varieties with high hereditary potential for production, quality, and resistance traits. Her projects have focused on organizing genetic and ecological aspects of valuable complex traits in cereals, legumes, and vegetable crops, with an emphasis on creating and reproducing high-performance varieties.Lupascu's personal competencies include a profound understanding of genetics, plant protection, plant breeding, mycology, phytopathology, and scientific management. Her native language is Romanian. Through her extensive research contributions and leadership in various projects, she has made significant strides in advancing knowledge and practices in the field of plant sciences.
