Michael Vronschih is a renowned expert in plant protection and a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences since 2008. His work focuses on enhancing agricultural practices and plant protection strategies in the face of evolving climatic conditions.Vronschih's research in 2022 was organized into three main directions. Firstly, he assessed the resistance levels of genotypes from five different crops, aiming to enrich the collection of genotypes resistant to dominant pathogens under Moldova's specific pedo-climatic conditions. This involved testing 2,791 genotypes, including 933 under artificial infection conditions. His efforts led to the identification of 52 genotypes recommended for future breeding programs.Secondly, Vronschih worked on developing methods to evaluate the impact of meteorological factors on pathogen development. This research is crucial for improving seasonal and monthly forecasts for pathogen emergence and behavior in crop agrocenoses, contributing significantly to the predictive capabilities of agricultural management systems.Thirdly, he focused on optimizing integrated pest management systems. This included ensuring that the pesticides used comply with EU standards, balancing biological efficacy with toxicity levels. Vronschih's work in this area is instrumental in maintaining sustainable agricultural practices by advocating for the use of resistant crop varieties and alternative methods, such as the prophylactic effect of crop rotation and optimal fertilizer doses. In 2022, Vronschih completed a significant monograph of 680 pages and published a chapter in a national monograph. He actively participated in three international scientific conferences, contributing valuable insights into plant protection. Additionally, he presented one patent application and rigorously tested 144 insectofungicides, including 55 new formulations, to enhance the list of approved phytosanitary products.Throughout his career, Vronschih has been dedicated to improving plant protection methods, resulting in numerous scientific publications and innovative patents. His work has significantly advanced the field of plant protection, making him a key figure in the agricultural sciences community.
