Zubcov Elena is a distinguished expert in the field of hydrobiology and ecotoxicology, currently serving as the head of the Laboratory of Hydrobiology and Ecotoxicology at the Institute of Zoology of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (AȘM). With a career spanning over five decades, Elena has made significant contributions to research and education in natural sciences, particularly in ichthyology and ecology.Since 2009, Elena has been leading research activities, overseeing doctoral studies, and managing scientific endeavors at the Institute of Zoology and the State University Dimitrie Cantemir. Her role involves not only scientific research but also the mentorship of the next generation of scientists in the field of hydrobiology and ecotoxicology.From 2005 to 2009, Elena served as the President of the Accreditation Commission of the National Council for Accreditation and Attestation in Moldova, where she played a pivotal role in evaluating and accrediting scientific and innovation organizations. Her expertise and leadership were crucial in shaping the policies and management of research and higher education in Moldova.Elena’s academic journey began with a dual degree in biology and chemistry from the State University T.G. Shevchenko in Tiraspol, followed by doctoral studies in hydrochemistry at the Institute of Hydrochemistry in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, where she earned her PhD in 1986. Her distinguished career continued with the attainment of the title of Associate Professor in hydrochemistry, aquatic resources, and the environment in 1988, and later, in 1999, she achieved the status of Doctor Habilitat in biology with a specialization in hydrobiology from the Institute of Zoology, AȘM.Elena's profound knowledge and extensive experience have established her as a leading figure in her field, contributing significantly to scientific research, higher education, and the advancement of environmental science in Moldova. Her work continues to inspire and guide both her peers and the emerging scientists under her mentorship.
