Prof. Valeriu Tabără, born July 1st, 1949, in Sălciua Village, Alba district, is a distinguished agronomist and politician in Romania. Graduating from the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Timișoara, he earned his Ph.D. in agronomy in 1984. Prof. Tabără is renowned for his expertise in plant breeding, particularly in hemp varieties registered in Romania and the EU. His academic achievements include membership in the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences Gheorghe Ionescu-Sisesti and the Academy of Scientists in Romania.In the realm of public service, he served as president of the Romanian National Unity Party and held leadership positions in the Liberal Democratic Party. As a member of the Romanian Parliament, he contributed significantly, notably as president of the Commission of Agriculture, Food Industry, and Services. He also fostered international relations as president of the Interparliamentary Group in Romania. Prof. Tabără's contributions have been honored with various awards, including the Gheorghe Ionescu-Sisesti Prize and the Academic Merit Prize from the Romanian Academy.
