Igor Casu is a distinguished Moldovan historian and academic, born on October 8, 1973, in Borogani, Moldova. He serves as a professor at Moldova State University and is notably the deputy head of the Commission for the Study of the Communist Dictatorship in Moldova. Casu's scholarly work primarily focuses on the repressions during the Soviet era in Moldavia, a subject on which he has published extensively, including a significant book that has contributed to the understanding of this dark period in Moldovan history.Casu earned his Ph.D. in History in March 2000 and has since been a prominent figure in academic and archival circles in Moldova. Currently, he holds the position of director at Moldova's National Agency for Archives, overseeing the preservation and accessibility of historical documents.
