I am a cognitive scientist interested in building AI systems that work with people. A key requirement is that such systems are capable of inferring the goals and preferences of the humans with whom they cooperate. My approach to these inference processes relies on ideas from machine learning, including reinforcement learning and deep neural networks. It also relies on the idea that people are computationally rational. I am fortunate to collaborate with teams from Helsinki (the Finnish Center for AI and Bitville) and London's Turing Institute.
