Alexander Lavin is a world leader in probabilistic machine learning and human-centric AI systems. Lavin founded Latent Sciences, a predictive medicines startup that was acquihired into a stealth enterprise AI company. Previously he was a Sr Research Engineer at both Vicarious AI and Numenta, building artificial general intelligence for robotics, and developing neuro-derived ML algorithms, respectively. Prior to pursuing AI, Lavin was a spacecraft engineer, working with NASA, Blue Origin, and Astrobotic; he is now an AI Advisor for NASA. Lavin studied at Carnegie Mellon, Duke, and Cornell Universities. He has won awards for work in space robotics and rocket propulsion, and published in top venues across AI/ML and neuroscience.
