Allen Gruber is a well-known neuroscientist and physician who has founded several successful technology companies. He co-founded INTERVU, Inc in 1993, a streaming video provider which became very successful and was eventually sold to Akamai Technologies, Inc for $2.8 billion. In 1999, he founded Kintera, Inc which provided an online fundraising and marketing platform for nonprofit organizations. He later became the Executive Vice President in charge of Engineering for Kintera, Inc which reached a market capitalization of $500 million before being sold to Blackbaud, Inc. Gruber obtained his BA in Biochemistry and MD from the University of Pennsylvania and continued his clinical and research training at Washington University. He was also on the faculty of University of Texas. In 2007, he was a Senior Fellow in the Institute of Neural Computation at UCSD and has memberships with the American Academy of Neurology, the Society for Neuroscience, and IEEE.
