Don Norman

Don Norman was the founding Director of The Design Lab at the University of California, San Diego. He retired from UC San Diego on Dec. 2020 (his 5th retirement, second from UCSD). He is co-founder of the Nielsen Norman Group (now retired), a member of the National Academy of Engineering, and former Vice President of Apple. He is now focusing upon Design for Good, how design might enhance society. Designers need to be better educated, learning about history, politics, economics, business, the social and behavioral sciences, business, and of course, technology. We need a code of ethics and designers positioned at the highest levels of organizations so they can enforce the ethics.
