Zo is Director - AI & Data Economy at Innovate UK. Zo leads a team of experts working to identify, support and accelerate high growth-potential innovation in the UK, based on cutting-edge AI and data research and technology. She joined Innovate UK in 2007 as a technologist with responsibility for developing and implementing the UKs innovation strategy for information and communication technology. Since then, she has held the roles of Head of Enabling Technologies, Head of High-Value Manufacturing, Head of Resource Portfolio and Deputy Director Strategy. With a background in computer science, Zo has a PhD in artificial intelligence, for which she developed and evaluated stereotype-based user models for personalised information filtering. Previous jobs include working at QinetiQ and SEA, involving researching, developing and demonstrating machine learning and information filtering algorithms for a range of applications including health and retail.
